Discover, filter and collect
For iF International Forum Design, we developed an app that lets you discover award-winning work from the iF DESIGN AWARD. You can filter winners by discipline, category, country and target audience. Personal collections help you gather interesting designs and find them again later.
The app also offers a playful way to explore: shaking your smartphone displays a random selection of winners. This brings the extensive collection of award-winning design into a mobile interface that supports both targeted searches and open exploration.
Data preparation is also part of the technical implementation: migration scripts select the collections intended for the app, add display names, images and categories, and remove duplicate assignments. The React Native app reloads saved favourites and folders; filters and random selection access the shared collection of works and collections.
In 2021, we developed the app with React Native and Firebase. In 2024 and 2025, we worked on the iF Daily Design Mobile App with Flutter and Dart, with push notifications via Firebase. Technical development complements the work on filters, collections and the mobile presentation of award content.
Technical implementation
The React Native implementation from 2021 uses Firebase and processes a collection of award-winning works and collections. Filters, random selection, and saved favourites and folders are implemented in dedicated hooks. JavaScript scripts prepare collections as JSON and remove duplicate assignments.
For further development in 2024/2025, we used Flutter and Dart. Firebase handles push notifications there.
We will get back to you within one working day.
